Women’s Summer Support Series

Finding Connection and Purpose: A Support Group for Women in Their Later Years

As women move into the later chapters of life, they often find themselves navigating a complex

and deeply personal mix of transitions. Whether it's facing an empty nest, adjusting to changing

family dynamics, contemplating retirement, or exploring new dimensions of purpose and

identity—this phase of life brings both challenges and opportunities.

To help support women through this unique season, we’re offering a small-group counseling

experience designed specifically for women in their later years. Led by a trained counselor, this

group will meet in person for six consecutive Thursdays from 5–6 PM, beginning in late June

(with a potential break on July 3rd for vacation). Meetings will be held in a warm, welcoming

counseling office space, and participation is limited to five women to allow for meaningful

connection and support.

Why Join a Therapeutic Group?

Therapeutic groups are powerful tools for healing, growth, and transformation. While individual

counseling is valuable, group therapy offers something uniquely enriching:

 Shared Experience: There’s deep validation in hearing someone say, “me too.” Group

members often discover they are not alone in their feelings or struggles.

 Emotional Support: The group becomes a safe, encouraging space to process emotions

with others who truly understand.

 Diverse Perspectives: Hearing how others face similar challenges can offer new ways of

thinking and practical solutions.

 Accountability and Motivation: Regular meetings create consistency and encourage

members to reflect, engage, and grow.

 A Sense of Belonging: In a society where aging can feel isolating or overlooked, this

group fosters connection, purpose, and empowerment.

Above all, therapeutic groups can be life-affirming. They offer a structured but personal space

where women can explore who they are becoming—without judgment, and with encouragement.

What to Expect

This is not a drop-in group—it’s a structured, seasonal 6-week series that blends peer support,

therapeutic guidance, and meaningful dialogue. Together, we’ll explore the common (but often

unspoken) experiences of this life stage and build a network of shared understanding and

strength.

Weekly Overview

 Week 1: Introductions and Intentions

Getting to know each other, reviewing group guidelines, and setting personal goals for

the series.

 Week 2: Caring for Others

Navigating the emotional and practical demands of grown children, aging parents, and

changing family roles.

 Week 3: Relationships and Connection

Exploring friendships, estrangement, divorce, and how to manage feelings of loneliness

or isolation.

 Week 4: Health and Wellness

Acknowledging physical and emotional shifts, and learning to care for the body and mind

in new ways.

 Week 5: Work and Meaning

Considering career changes, retirement, or a renewed search for purpose and fulfillment.

 Week 6: Self-Care and Balance

Exploring practical self-care and how to find balance in daily life.

Is This Group Right for You?

This group is for any woman navigating the unique complexities of midlife and

beyond—whether you're seeking connection, processing change, or looking to feel more rooted

in yourself. It’s a space to share your story, listen to others, and walk away feeling stronger,
